What is this metric used for?
The IP Players list allows to identify who are the biggest technology players on the market.
The analysis of the main players informs us about the most active competitors in terms of innovation capacity and legal protection. The latter may pose a risk of attack even if they do not sell products in the analyzed area.
The graph shows the top 5 of actors ordered by patents number on the topic and the percentage of the cumulated number of the top 5 players compared to the top 100.
How is the graphic built?
The graph associates the inventions of the biggest players on the technology in terms of patent. In order to remain readable, the graph is normalized to the first player.
