What is this metric used for?
The Positioning helps to understand in which areas my competitors are positioned.
By reviewing the patents of each player on a topic, it is possible to analyze the technological fields covered by your competitors in relation to your company. This way, you can immediately visualize the common working areas and especially those in which you differ from them.
How is the graphic built?
The graph is built using the technology areas in which your competitors' patents and yours are classified on a topic. There are 32 technology areas. The result is then presented in the form of a Venn diagram in order to put into perspective the technology areas you have in common, the fields they cover and you don’t, and finally those on which you are working and on which they are not present.
